During 2024 and early 2025, Australia experienced significant outbreaks of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI), affecting poultry farms across Victoria, New South Wales, and the Australian Capital Territory, marking the largest avian influenza incident in Australia’s history. The outbreaks had a major impact on egg-laying farms and contributed to egg shortages across the country.

In response to changing market conditions, many egg producers who had traditionally supplied wholesalers began exploring new business models. More farms are now investing in egg washing, grading, packing, printing, and branded sales, allowing them to strengthen their market position and improve profit margins.

This shift has increased demand for automated egg washing, grading, and packing solutions.

For this project, ZENYER supplied a fully integrated system capable of processing up to 30,000 eggs per hour. The system includes a 430X Visual AI Detector, which identifies dirty eggs and diverts them to the washing process. Clean eggs continue directly to the grading and packing stage, helping the customer maintain efficiency while ensuring consistent egg quality.

The solution reduced labor requirements, improved workflow efficiency, and provided more consistent product quality. More importantly, it gives the producer greater control over their own brand and sales channels, creating a stronger foundation for long-term profitability.
